Play Ground Activities

Play Ground Activities in Orlando: Outdoor Play That Builds Skills at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips offers play ground activities in Orlando for toddlers, preschoolers, and after school kids. We also provide after school pickup from Bay Meadows Elementary. Warm weather lets kids play outside almost every month of the year here. As a Florida Gold Seal Quality Care day care center, we treat outdoor play as part of early childhood education. We are open Monday–Friday 6:30 AM–6:30 PM. Call our front desk at (407) 412-6908 to enroll.

Toddler to School Age

Playground Activities Matched to Your Child’s Age

Playground activities at Ladybird Academy of Dr Phillips change as your child moves up from one classroom to the next. Toddlers do sensory play, simple climbing, and outdoor play that builds gross motor skills. These are the big body moves, like running, climbing, and balancing.

In preschool and pre-K, soccer, group games, and creative play teach turn-taking and social-emotional learning. For school-age kids (5 to 12), active play helps them reset after a long school day.

If your family plans to stay in Dr. Phillips for years, your child can go from toddler play to school-age games without changing schools.

Move and Imagine

What a Day of Outdoor Play Looks Like

Outdoor play at our Dr. Phillips center includes several kinds of activity. Children play soccer and explore with sensory play, while ballet dance and creative play add movement and imagination. Because Orlando stays warm, these activities run all year, not only in summer.

Each activity ties to developmental milestones. A child practices balance on the playground equipment, sharing with a soccer ball, and following steps in a group game. A child who avoids climbing or group games may just need more practice, and the playground is often where that shows up first.

After the Bus Ride

After School Playground Time for Palm Lake and Bay Meadows Students

The before and after school bus at Ladybird Academy of Dr Phillips serves Palm Lake Elementary and Bay Meadows Elementary (Orange County Public Schools). After the bus ride, our after school care includes outdoor play, a snack, and homework help. A child who has had time to move is often more ready to sit and focus.

Before-school drop-off starts at 6:30 AM, and pickup runs until 6:30 PM. If you work early or late shifts near Sand Lake Road or the theme parks, these hours cover both ends of your day.

Shade and Water Play

Shade, Water Play, and Indoor Backup Spaces for Florida Weather

Florida weather shapes how playground time works at Ladybird Academy of Dr Phillips. Orlando summers bring afternoon thunderstorms, and hurricane season runs June through November.

On hot afternoons, children play on shaded playground equipment over safety surfacing. Our water play area keeps kids cool. Summer camp adds Monday water days.

Three Steps

How to Enroll Your Child in Playground Activities

Here is how to get started at Ladybird Academy of Dr Phillips:

  1. Contact the front desk. Call (407) 412-6908 or email drphillips@ladybirdacademy.com. Parents in our reviews say their concerns get answered the same day.

  2. Pick a program. Choose full-time care, after school care, or Summer My Way Summer Camp (ages 5 to 11).

  3. Ask about options. Ask about flexible scheduling, Florida VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten), and School Readiness (formerly 4C). VPK is free pre-K for eligible 4-year-olds, and we offer it during the school year only.

We are at 6809 Daisy St, Orlando, FL 32819. That is 2.6 miles (about 13 minutes) from Universal Studios Orlando, a handy stop if you commute from Williamsburg or the Turkey Lake area.
