Ballet Dance
Ballet Dance in Orlando: Preschool Ballet for Young Children in Dr. Phillips
Part of the Day
Ballet Dance for Young Children in Dr. Phillips
Ballet Dance in Orlando gives young children a fun way to move, listen, and focus. At Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips, ballet is part of our full-day preschool. We also offer Spanish and sign language for young children. Your child enjoys ballet during the regular day, so you don't need a separate studio trip after work.
We are a Florida Gold Seal Quality Care day care center on Daisy St in Dr. Phillips. Weekday hours run 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM. To see how ballet fits into your child's day, call (407) 412-6908.

Balance and Listening
Ballet Dance Builds Balance, Coordination, and Listening Skills
Ballet dance teaches young children balance, coordination, and listening in a structured way. Free play matters, and many parents also want time where a teacher shows a skill and the children practice it together.
Ballet basics give young bodies a clear job:
- Standing tall, which builds posture
- Balancing on one foot, then the other
- Moving to the beat of the music
These moves build gross motor skills, the large movements of the arms, legs, and core that children use to walk, jump, and climb.
Ballet also runs on cues. Your child has to watch the teacher, wait, and then move. For a 3-year-old, stopping when the music stops takes real effort. That practice in listening and self-control supports developmental milestones for this age.
No Second Drive
Ballet Is One Enrichment Activity Inside a Full Preschool Day
Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips includes ballet as one enrichment activity within a full preschool day. You don't have to make a second drive across Orlando for it. All of our programs are full-day, so enrichment happens while your child is already with us.
Ballet is offered in the same program as:
-
Soccer
-
Storytime sessions
-
Science activities
-
Cooking activities
-
Creative play centers
Enrichment works best when it sits next to real learning, not in place of it. Our academic time stays structured with the Abeka curriculum and Saxon Math. Ballet and soccer give children a chance to move, and that movement can make it easier to sit and focus during lessons.
Location and hours matter for working parents in the Dr. Phillips community. We are the closest day care to Universal Studios Orlando, just 2.6 miles away (about 13 minutes). Many local parents work in theme parks, hotels, and restaurants, where shifts start early or run late. Our 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM weekday hours and flexible scheduling help those families. We are closed Saturday and Sunday, so weekend shifts need a separate plan.
Before Day One
Getting Your Child Ready for Their First Ballet Session
A first ballet session goes more smoothly when your child already knows a little about music, stretching, and taking turns. This helps most if your child is new to group dance or your family just moved to Orlando.
Try these at home:
- Play music and dance together in the living room.
- Stretch side by side. Reach up high, then touch your toes.
- Play a simple turn-taking game, like rolling a ball back and forth.
Ask our front desk about attire and which age groups join ballet. That way you'll know what your child needs before the first session.
Tell us about your child, too. Some children watch for a while before they join a group activity, and that is normal. If your child is shy, sensitive to loud music, or new to group settings, share it through direct teacher messaging so the teacher can plan how to help your child join in.
Classroom Habits
Ballet Supports Kindergarten Readiness and Social-Emotional Learning
Ballet supports kindergarten readiness by giving children practice with classroom skills in a fun setting. The habits children use in dance carry straight into a kindergarten room. They wait in line for a turn, copy a teacher's moves, and follow directions with more than one step, like "point your toes, then turn."
Group dance also builds confidence and teamwork. Dancing in front of friends takes courage, and moving together as a group teaches children to notice others. Both are core parts of social-emotional learning, which means learning to manage feelings and get along with others.
Ballet is one piece of a bigger plan for older preschoolers. It pairs with our Pre-K Classroom, our Step Up Program, and our transition to kindergarten support. The year ends with preschool graduation, a milestone families enjoy celebrating.
Families who are new to Florida may not know about VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten). Florida VPK is free for eligible 4-year-olds. At Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips, VPK runs during the school year only. We also accept School Readiness, formerly known as 4C.
Outside Reviews
Gold Seal Quality Care and Dual Accreditation Stand Behind Every Enrichment Class
Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips holds Florida Gold Seal Quality Care status and two accreditations. If your family is moving to Bay Hill, Williamsburg, or the Turkey Lake area, you may not have neighbors to ask yet. These outside reviews give you something to check.
Florida Gold Seal Quality Care is awarded by the Florida Department of Children and Families, and a center must hold DCF licensure before it can earn Gold Seal. Our two accreditations are A.P.P.L.E. (Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment) and N.E.C.P.A. (National Early Childhood Program Accreditation). Our N.E.C.P.A. accreditation is valid through April 30, 2027.
N.E.C.P.A. assesses adult-child interaction and parent-community relationships. That first area matters in group classes like ballet, where a good teacher keeps the group on task while still helping the child who is unsure.
All of our teachers meet or exceed Florida state credential requirements, and all staff are CPR/First Aid certified. We are members of F.A.C.C.M. (Florida Association of Child Care Management) and N.C.C.A. (National Child Care Association). We have been voted Best of Orlando by Orlando Magazine for 10 years.
