A Day With a Plan

A Full Day of Preschool Fills Your Child’s Day With Learning and Play

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips gives Orlando parents one place that covers the whole workday. You drop off once and pick up once. In between, your child moves through a day that has a plan, not just a long stretch of waiting.

A typical day mixes quiet learning with hands-on play:

  • Storytime sessions that build listening and early reading
  • Creative play centers where children build, pretend, and share
  • Sensory play with textures, water, and materials children can touch and explore
  • Science and cooking activities that turn questions into small experiments

Named Curricula

Abeka and Saxon Math Give Your Child a Clear Path to Kindergarten

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips teaches with two named curricula: Abeka for early reading and Saxon Math for early math skills. A named curriculum lets you see what your child is learning and in what order.

Abeka builds reading step by step, starting with letter sounds, which teachers call phonics, and moving toward reading words. Saxon Math builds number sense in small pieces that repeat and grow, so a child who practices counting today is ready for adding later.

Learning also happens outside the main classroom. Our on-site centers include:

  • An Art Studio
  • A Science Lab
  • A Library
  • A Computer Lab

Academic skills are only half of kindergarten readiness. The other half is social-emotional learning: how your child handles feelings, takes turns, and works with others. Developmental milestones, the skills most children reach by a certain age, help show where a child is strong and where more practice may help. Not every child reaches them at the same pace, and that’s normal.

The year ends with preschool graduation. Our goal is for your child to start kindergarten in Orange County Public Schools ready to sit, listen, read, and count.

Free Pre-K, Full Day

All-Day Pre-K in Orlando Combines Free VPK With Full-Day Care

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips is a Florida VPK provider, so your 4-year-old can attend free pre-K and full-day care at one Orlando school. If you moved here from another state, VPK may be new to you.

  • What VPK Means

VPK stands for Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten. Florida offers it free for eligible 4-year-olds, and families choose whether to enroll, which is why the program is called “voluntary.”

  • Care Around VPK

At our school, VPK runs during the school year only, and it covers part of the day, not the full workday. That gap is where many working parents get stuck, because the free program alone may not match their job hours. Full-day care covers the hours around VPK. Your child stays in our Pre-K classroom all day, with the same teachers and the same routine from drop-off to pickup, and no midday transfer between two programs.

  • School Readiness

We also accept School Readiness, which was formerly called 4C. School Readiness can help eligible families with the cost of child care. Eligibility depends on your family’s situation, so ask our front desk to walk you through it.

Built for Shift Work

Hours From 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM Fit Orlando’s Hospitality Work Schedules

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips opens weekdays at 6:30 AM and closes at 6:30 PM. Those hours matter in this part of Orlando. Many parents work at the theme parks, at International Drive hotels, or along Sand Lake Road’s Restaurant Row, where shifts often start early or end late.

Hospitality hours can also change from week to week. We offer flexible scheduling to help families whose hours shift, so talk with us about your schedule and the options we offer.

Drop-off and pickup are built around safety:

  • Key fob check-in at the door
  • Coded door locks
  • ID required for any adult we don’t know at pickup

Location helps too. We are the closest day care to Universal Studios Orlando, just 2.6 miles away, or about 13 minutes. Bay Hill and Williamsburg are nearby communities as well.

Facts You Can Check

Gold Seal, APPLE, and NECPA Credentials Let You Verify Quality

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips holds Florida Gold Seal Quality Care, awarded by the Florida Department of Children and Families. If you’re new to Orlando, you may not have friends or neighbors to ask for a referral yet. Credentials give you something you can check for yourself.

Our school is accredited by two groups:

  • APPLE (Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment)
  • NECPA (National Early Childhood Program Accreditation), valid through April 30, 2027

NECPA looks closely at how adults and children interact, and at how well a school works with parents and the community. A quick visit can’t always show those things, so an outside review gives you another way to judge them.

Ms. Yliana Gomez

Director

Our leadership has credentials you can check, too. Our Director, Ms. Yliana Gomez, has more than 15 years of experience in childcare. She holds a National Child Development Associate (CDA) credential from the Council for Professional Recognition and the Florida Director Credential. All of our teachers meet or exceed Florida state credential requirements.

You can also check on your child during the day. Parents get live camera access to classrooms, real-time app updates, and direct messaging with teachers, so you don’t have to wait until pickup to know how the day is going.

Start With a Visit

Full-Day Preschool Enrollment in Dr. Phillips Starts With a Tour

A visit to our school is a good first step toward full-day preschool enrollment at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips. Seeing the classroom in person is the quickest way to tell whether our day fits your child and your work hours.

Here is how enrollment works:

  1. Call or message our front desk.

Parents tell us we answer their questions the same day.

  2. Tour the Pre-K classroom and learning centers.

See the Art Studio, Science Lab, Library, and Computer Lab in person.

  3. Ask about VPK and School Readiness.

We can explain how free VPK and School Readiness may apply to your family.

  4. Finish child care enrollment.

If your child is still learning to use the potty, that’s common at this age. We offer potty training support for children who are still working on it.

Summer brings our week-long Summer My Way camp for children ages 5 to 11. Campers go on field trips, including trips to Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake.
