Field Trips Summer Camp in Orlando: Weekly Outings and Hands-On Days at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips
Summer break in Orlando is long and hot, and working parents need days that are planned from drop-off to pickup. Our summer camp in Dr. Phillips gives your child weekly outings while school is out. Hands-on camp days keep the fun going between trips. Your child has steady supervision throughout the day. Summer My Way Summer Camp runs in week-long blocks for children ages 5 to 11, and we offer flexible scheduling for working families. Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips is a Florida Gold Seal Quality Care day care center. Call us or schedule a tour to check which weeks are open.
Booked by the Week
How Our Week-Long Field Trips Summer Camp Works
Summer My Way Summer Camp at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips runs in week-long blocks. Because you book by the week, you can map out the break one week at a time and see where you have care covered and where you still need a plan.
Each camp week follows a set plan:
- A new state theme for the week
- Two field trips
- Water day every Monday
- On-site camp days with hands-on activities
With that mix, your child gets the fun of outings without every day being spent on the road, and the on-site days give the week’s theme time to sink in.
If your schedule has gaps inside a week, ask our front desk how flexible scheduling can work for your family.
- Ages 5 to 11
- Field trips 2 a week
- Water day Mondays
- Quality Gold Seal

Field Trips Families Know Around Dr. Phillips
Summer My Way field trips can include places that Dr. Phillips and Turkey Lake area families already know. Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake is one of our field trips.
A park visit gives your child room to run, but it also gives them new things to look at and ask about. Kids notice plants, water, birds and open space in ways a classroom can’t copy. They come back with questions, and our teachers can build on those questions during on-site days.
A park close to home also means a shorter ride, so more of the outing goes to play and exploring and less goes to sitting on a bus.
Rain or Shine
Camp Days Built for Orlando Heat and Afternoon Storms
Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips plans camp days around Central Florida weather, with water play for hot days and indoor rooms for storms. Summer here is hot, afternoon thunderstorms are frequent, and hurricane season runs from June through November.
Every Monday is water day at camp. Campers use our water play area to cool off and play hard at the same time.
On other hot days, our playground has shaded equipment. Shade keeps surfaces and kids cooler, so outdoor play stays comfortable for longer. The playground also has safety surfacing under the equipment.
When storms roll in, camp moves inside to rooms that are made for play and learning, so a rainy afternoon doesn’t have to mean a lost day:
-
Library
The library, for reading and quiet time
-
Playtown
Playtown, our dramatic play room, where kids act out stories and pretend jobs
-
Art Room
The art room, for painting, building and craft projects
Between the Trips
Hands-On Learning Between Field Trips
Our on-site camp days give Bay Hill and Williamsburg families a summer that builds skills, not one that just fills time. Between field trips, campers stay busy with activities that use their hands and their heads.
Science activities happen in our Science Lab. In class cooking activities, kids measure, mix and follow steps in order, which is quiet practice in both math and reading.
Social studies fits with each week’s state theme. Storytime in our Library gives kids a calm break and a chance to hear new words. In our Art Studio, campers work on projects they can take home and talk about.
Kids also need to move. Ballet dance and soccer keep bodies active and teach kids to follow directions, take turns and work as a team.
