Flexible Scheduling

Week-by-Week Summer Camp Fits Your Family’s Schedule

Our week-long summer camp, paired with flexible scheduling, is built for working families. Many Dr. Phillips parents work along Orlando’s tourism corridor, at theme parks, hotels, and restaurants. Those jobs often mean early starts, late finishes, or schedules that shift.

Drop-off starts at 6:30 AM, and pickup runs until 6:30 PM. When you call the front desk, ask how our flexible scheduling can fit your work calendar and which weeks still have space. Camp availability can change, so check before you set your summer plans.

Florida VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) runs during the school year only at our center. Once your child reaches school age, Summer My Way Summer Camp covers the summer weeks for ages 5 to 11, so the same school can carry your family from the school year into summer.

Planned Ahead

What a Camp Week Looks Like at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips

A camp week at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips is planned ahead, so your child’s day is filled with activities. Each week follows a state theme.

Activities offered at our center include:

  • Rocket ship mural in the Ladybird computer lab

    Science

  • Pretend home corner with a wooden play kitchen, table and dress-up rack

    Cooking

  • Bookshelves of picture books beside a cozy armchair in the reading room

    Story time

  • Pink PlayTown storefront with window boxes of flowers

    Creative play centers

Ballet dance and soccer are also part of our program. Our on-site specialty learning centers include an Art Studio, a Science Lab, a Library, and a Computer Lab.

Meals come from our on-site nutrition program. Our own cook makes breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack in our kitchen each day, so you don’t need to pack a lunch.

Plans change from summer to summer. Ask the front desk for this summer’s weekly plan.

Two Trips a Week

Field Trips That Get Kids Out Exploring

Field trips are part of the Summer My Way camp program at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips. Summer My Way includes two field trips per week, which helps camp weeks feel like real summer adventures instead of the same routine every day.

Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake is one of our Summer My Way field trips. Many Dr. Phillips families already know the park, and kids get to see it with their friends and teachers. On any trip, children practice staying together, listening to adults, and trying new things in a new setting. Those skills help in the classroom too.

Orlando heat is the main thing to plan for on trip days, since kids can get thirsty fast outside. On field trip days, send:

  • A water bottle labeled with your child’s name
  • A hat to block the sun

Trip plans differ from week to week. When you book, ask which field trips are set for the weeks you choose.

Planned Around Weather

Summer Camp Built for Orlando Heat and Afternoon Storms

Orlando summers bring high heat and frequent afternoon thunderstorms, so our camp day is planned around the weather. Hurricane season runs June through November.

Monday is water day. Kids cool off in our water play area, so plan for your child to get wet every Monday.

Shade matters on hot days. Our playground has shaded equipment that cuts direct sun during outdoor play, plus safety surfacing under the equipment.

Clear Proof

Safe, Accredited Care You Can Check Every Camp Day

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips holds Florida Gold Seal Quality Care status, awarded by the Florida Department of Children and Families. Many families move to Dr. Phillips from the Northeast and Midwest. Without friends nearby to ask, you need clear proof that a center is safe.

Our credentials include:

  • Florida Gold Seal Quality Care
  • A.P.P.L.E. Accreditation (Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment)
  • N.E.C.P.A. Accreditation (National Early Childhood Program Accreditation), valid through April 30, 2027

Staff meet or exceed Florida state credential requirements, and all staff are CPR and First Aid certified.

Director Ms. Yliana Gomez brings 15+ years of childcare experience. She holds a National Child Development Associate (CDA) credential from the Council for Professional Recognition and the Florida Director Credential. She has been with our school since it opened in 2013 and has served as Director since 2015.

You don’t have to wait until pickup to see your child’s day. Live parent camera access lets you look in on the classroom, and our parent app sends real-time updates and lets you message teachers directly.

Five Simple Steps

Getting Ready for Your Child’s First Camp Week

Getting your child ready for the first camp week at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips takes a few simple steps. Starting early gives you time to ask questions and gives your child time to feel at home.

  1. Call the front desk to see which Orlando camp weeks are open.

  2. Ask about visiting so your child can see the rooms before day one. Seeing the water play area, Playtown, and the classrooms ahead of time helps your child know what to expect on Monday morning.

  3. Fill out the child care enrollment forms so your child is set up in our system.

  4. Pack for Monday water days: a swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen. Labeling each item helps it come home.

  5. Download the parent app for daily updates and direct messages from teachers.

Our front desk answers questions the same day. Visit anytime during operating hours, or call us at (407) 412-6908 with anything you need before your first week.
